From our students

100% recommended! J70 sailing boat is a perfect way to start sailing or to improve your skills. Victor is a great skipper and we’ve leaned a lot. We’ll definitely come back to sail again and hopefully to compete in regatta one day, it’s a lot of fun and the best outdoor sport.

Irina Tveritneva

Best yacht school with lessons on j70 in Barcelona so far. Very cool and professional skipper, trainings are pretty dynamic and definitely useful!

Anna Obyskalova

Great experience on the J70 boat, I'll definitely repeat! I'd like to highlight the excellent coach Victor, he explained everything very clearly. I enjoyed the time

FAQ

If you have questions…

What do i need to bring to class?

The most important thing is to wear comfortable and light clothing that suits the weather conditions

For example:
● Swimsuit or swim trunks
● Long-sleeve shirt (to protect from the sun)
● Shorts or lightweight pants
● Sunglasses
● Hat or cap

Also, bring an extra set of clothes in case you get wet or dirty during the activity. For footwear, non-slip sneakers, rubber sandals, or specialized yachting shoes are suitable. You will also need special gloves. If you don’t have any, we will provide ours for the duration of the activity. To protect your skin from burns and dryness, we recommend applying sunscreen with high SPF on exposed areas and lip balm before the activity

And one last recommendation: a water bottle. You can always refill it from our cooler

What about inclement weather during classtime?

We cancel all yachting classes if the wind speed surpasses 22 knots or during heavy rain warnings. You can always contact us to check whether a class will be canceled

Are there classes year round?

Yes, we welcome you to our classes all 12 months of the year

Do I have to come to class ahead of  time?

Yes, it’s best that you arrive at our office 15 minutes before the start of class

What should I do if I can't attend a class?

Please inform us as quickly as possible, either by e-mail reservations@wind-catchers.com or phone +34937443682

● If you cancel your class at least 48 hours in advance, you will get a full refund for the missed class
● After the 48-hour deadline, the cost of the class is not refundable
● If you suddenly cancel a class due to circumstances beyond your control, please contact us. We can reschedule your class or arrange for a refund.

Is parking available near your office?

Adjacent to the office is a paid parking lot with covered parking and video surveillance. Click here to find out for the exact location and access by public transportation

Can your boats capsize?

Rest assured, our boats cannot capsize. But in a strong wind, a sailboat will list sharply. Don't panic. Just follow your teacher’s instructions

Will I get wet?

That depends on the weather. You could get splashed. So we recommend you take an extra change of clothes just in case

What do I do if I don't have special sailing gloves?

Just come to the office and tell us before class starts, and we will find you some gloves that fit

How does class usually work?

Each boat has a crew of four to five people. If you are new to sailing, then you'll go out to sea with an experienced instructor. Each class will give you a chance to try a different skill — from helmsman to swiper

If I get seasick, does that mean water sports aren't for me?

Don’t give up on your dream of sailing just yet. There are many tricks you can try to avoid seasickness. For example:
• Drink plenty of water. This will protect you from dehydration, which worsens the symptoms of seasickness
• Try bringing along lemon water, coconut water, mint tea, or ginger tea. These can reduce seasickness symptoms
• There are specialized medications for seasickness, but it’s important to consult a doctor and follow the instructions
• Another option from the pharmacy is special seasickness wristbands. They can also help
• During the activity, look at the horizon. This helps your internal balance and reduces the sensation of movement. Use the horizon as a reference point
• Get more involved in practical tasks on board: handling the sails, assisting with maneuvers, and navigating

This will help distract you and reduce the feeling of seasickness

Will I be able to change in the club's facilities?

Of course. Our facilities include a changing room and bathroom. You can also use all of the facilities atthe port

Is there anything else you would like to learn?

Don't be shy about asking. Contact us in the way most convenient for you, or leave a comment on the site
